Second stop on the WFGA Tour took place in the weekend 24.-26. May 2019. The venue was the sunny and demanding surroundings of Dymnik - Rumburk.
Friday was “Double day” and fierce and competitive doubles of both genders showed fighting spirit and determination. After replay in the Women’s competition, the Swedish double Nordgren/Edvinges took the gold medals. The Danish duo of Hansen/Laursen took a much deserved silver and the Czech double Beniskova/Reinova took the bronze. In-fact the Doubles were meant for the Swedes. The Men’s competition was won by Bruce/Bernelind who kept their nerves and won gold well deserved. Runners up was yet again a Danish duo consisting of Bollerup/Bournonville and guess what? A Czech combo of Neumann/Masin took the bronze. See any resemblance of nationalities at the podium positions?
Saturday and Sunday were the days to do battle in the single competition. Mr. Bollerup started his chase for the title with a very nice -11 round on the premium course and folllowed it up with a -14 on the fun course. A very strong start that really emphasized his ambition, and put maximum pressure on his opponents. Jan Schmitz the Detmold darling, replied with a sensational -17 on fun course to try and stop the man in front. The young giant of Dirmstein, Mr. Ingermann had a good -13 second round that also kept him in the podium hunt. Nothing could eventually stop Bollerup from claiming the title, as his level of consistency went on through the entire competition. Jan and Wulf took the two other places on the mens podium after a well fought sunday, as the Czech winds blew a bit stronger. The first day in the womens single competition was close and exciting. Reinova took the lead closely followed by Hansen, Edvinges and Nordgren. On the final day Reinova stepped up a gear and took the gold medal with an 8 kick margin to Nordgren. The bronze was decided in a double replay between Hansen and Edvinges. Hansen finally managed to overcome the hard fighting swede to claim the bronze.
The competition also saw a crazy german player Karsten Stinglwagner playing through pain caused by a broken toe, what a fighter indeed. A lot of very nice people and players made sure that the tournament was a succes. Smiles were ever present and what is not to like when you have sun, friends, Footballgolf and the beautiful surroundings of Rumburk. Thanks to the Czech organizers and the team of Dymnik. Next stop is now the World Championship in Cornwall UK! We hope to see a lot of you guys again for a Footballgolf game of thrones.
Kind and football kicking regards - your WFGA Board.
